44/365 - The F-word
I keep skipping days out of my 365 post challenge. Even if it takes me 2 years, I will still finish it!
Now, on a more serious note. A while ago I was in a training session and I had just finished going through the technical part of the Barbell Back Squat when I suddenly turned and asked everyone: “Do we know how to fail?”. And one person asks: “In life?”. We all cracked up!
Obviously, I meant how to be safe in case you attempt a weight that is too heavy and you cannot complete the rep.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could have guidance for when a burden becomes too heavy in life? To understand that failure is sometimes necessary if you are pushing boundaries.
It is a way to progress after all, even if the process is awful. There has to be a lesson there or maybe just a test to make sure you really want that.
Take a few days to let it sink in and after that speak to yourself as if you would speak to your best friend. With love, confidence and patience.
On a bad day, I will come back to this post and I will read it, because it is easy to forget to be kind to yourself.
In any case, safely failed reps are badass! Especially if you are going to get back to work and attempt it again later. Maybe we can draw a parallel with life here too and think that to fail and get up is a sign of resilience and courage!
You got this! Shake up the dust and try again!
