The Strength and Mindset Approach

Strength and conditioning coach Silviu, exercising on bars

Skills before loads!

We are dedicated to creating a strength and conditioning coaching programme that caters towards improving your physical performance markers (strength and cardio-vascular output, strength endurance, balance, skills, coordination, mobility, flexibility etc).

But we don't jump into it head first, we have a very cautious approach, so please don't expect a 100kg loaded barbell on your first session or many after that.

Confidence comes from knowledge and having a strategic approach to lifting.

There is more to exercising than to just follow instructions, you will understand the why and how of lifting, making this perhaps one the best investments you will make towards your physical strength and mental resilience in a while!

Small group strength and conditioning class, Strength and Mindset studio, Anerley

Mobility will always be in fashion

Range of motion is very important in life, to help us prevent injuries, but also in training.

At The Strength and Mindset Studio executing exercises in their full range of motion is very important part of our strength and conditioning training sessions, and we aim for all members to achieve that, unless they have injuries or special circumstances.

For most people that have reduced mobility, it's a long and frustrating process, but if you are in this for the long run and you understand it's a marathon and not a sprint, great things will happen!

Just hang in there. We’ve got you.

You’ll join for the training but you’ll get so much more from your membership

  • We care about you. Being part of a community where everybody knows you, means when you are not around for a while you are missed! We will surely notice if you are skipping your training and we will reach out, and maybe your friends from the studio too!

On the mindset and psychological front we maintain an open environment for mental support and discussions where we can pretty much talk about anything under the Sun. We make ourselves reachable and we keep an open line.

  • “One skip is an exception, the second time it becomes the habit.”

Being present at sessions even on days you don't feel 100% is a sign of resilience, but sending your brain the message that you are in this for the long run is not an easy task, especially with so many temptations!

One of the most common ones we hear about is overworking and very little self care. But just remember, next time you are in a situation of having to push yourself to one side for the benefit of your employer or business, you can give more and be more productive when you feel good about yourself, when you are healthy, confident, rested and strong!

  • We love data and numbers, so we work very hard towards progressively and safely planning the increase in your loads and improving your skills for you to be ready in time for the testing period!

We are not big fans of guess-work because it doesn't keep us safe, but also it doesn't tap into our real strength potential. And probably this one of the biggest difference that sets our strength and conditioning coaching apart from Personal Training.

Our members can record their performance progress via our app and we use that data to form future targets and comparisons, but also to set the intensity of present sessions. We like to quantify progress, so that you feel like you are working towards something challenging, but achievable!

The goal post will keep moving, but that is the beauty of the human body, there is an endless amount of skill and strength we can aim for!

  • No judgement allowed, just care and respect!

We offer transitional 1:1 sessions, for a period of time, to help you prepare for the small group sessions (4:1). Whether you feel you don't have the confidence yet or you feel you need to build a bit more strength to train with your peers, we will work on that together!

We provide a safe, non-judgemental, mirror-free space, and invite you to come as you are.

“I have been attending Strength and Mindset for about 6 months after a long time away from exercise, and have loved every session! Eliza and Silviu are so kind and encouraging. They know each client and will always tailor exercises to take account of your specific needs or injuries. They also know when to push you in order to achieve more than you thought you were capable of! They have created such a friendly and non-judgmental environment, and I love that there are no mirrors so you focus on what your body can do rather than what you look like.”

“The 4:1 sessions at the studio have been great for getting me back into working out as I found the gym busy and overwhelming. Eliza and Silviu are amazing coaches, they make you feel comfortable whilst still pushing you and giving helpful advice to build technique and strength. I’d definitely recommend!”

“Excellent place to build up strength! Eliza and Silviu are the loveliest people, and the small sessions allow them to spend the necessary time working with everyone on their form and technique to make sure they’re safe and doing things properly. They also push you to do your best but are completely respectful and understanding of chronic pain, injuries, etc. so happy to have joined!”

“I joined Strength and Mindset just over a year ago, and I can honestly say it is hands down the best investment I have ever made in myself! Eliza and Silviu are the kindest and most supportive coaches and they really teach you not only the best form for exercising but why and how and everything in between. The studio and classes are the most friendly and welcoming space and everyone is catered for regardless of fitness level or ability. If you want to work hard, feel strong and empowered and have a laugh along the way I cannot recommend Strength and Mindset highly enough.”

  • ★★★★★

I joined the training sessions with some trepidation due to low fitness levels and little knowledge of lifting, but Eliza and Silviu very quickly helped me find my feet. I've seen how attuned they are to everyone's need, and they've created an environment that feels supportive and non-judgemental. No mirrors, no showing off, no fighting for equipment, just people of all ages and abilities learning to get stronger together, guided by skilled, talented trainers. Just a couple of months in, my back pain has eased significantly, and it's satisfying to see that I improve week by week.”

“Returning to exercise after a while is a daunting prospect - but it was a post on socials explaining no mirrors that convinced me to be brave. I really liked the idea of focussing on how my body feels and reacts rather than looking at my reflection. Eliza and Silviu are brilliant- they put me totally at ease, are encouraging and enthusiastic. I’ve felt totally safe in their hands. The studio is spotlessly clean and fresh, and working in small groups is ace. I wholeheartedly recommend - whether you’re super fit and strong or are a very unfit to start with (me!) they’ll find ways to get you to improve.”

And secondly because we have truly invested in our education and experience for many years through achieving masters degree, weightlifting,  gymnastics, cross-fit certifications and having taught powerlifting workshops. We continuously look to develop and evolve and we get taught by some of the best coaches in the industry.
