What to expect in a 1:1 trial/assessment?
Which strength and conditioning coaching session is best for me?
If it has been a while for you or you have never touched a weight before - this trial will help us understand if going straight to the small group session is the best thing moving forward or we might need to work for a while in a 1:1 setting.
If you have been regularly training or you have been very active in the past and you are confident you can attend a group session, then jump right in to the small group (4:1)!
Anything from major injuries, low confidence, very low strength or stamina and a few others can be a good reason to stay for a while in 1:1's. Due to low capacity, we give ourselves a maximum of 4 months to bring everyone up to speed, so we put all our knowledge and hearts to get you in shape as soon as possible. From our experience, if there are no major concerns, 2 months are what it takes on average to get most people ready to attend a small group session (4:1).
What can I expect from the trial session?
In the first part of the trial we will have a chat. We are a small business and we know each other well, we go to socials quarterly and many members have become friends even outside the studio. We don't disclose any of your information, but we do want to know if you are struggling with any particular issue or injury, if you take any medication, what is your preferred training time, if you live in the area etc.
The training session itself is not long and it is not designed to push you to your limits at all. What we will be looking at is - strength, mobility, flexibility and we will look briefly at your endurance, but above everything we want to know how connected you are to your body (balance, coordination, applying and listening to instructions).
In the last part we chat again about what is the best course of action. The outcome can be move straight to 4:1 sessions or let's stay at 1:1's.
If we say we are staying at 1:1, we reassess if it's still necessary every 2 weeks, because most people are keen to move to the group session (they are much more fun and better priced).

I always say, there is only one first session and once you pass your first couple of months, you will find yourself being more confident and stronger than you ever thought you could be!
