39/365 - Welcome, baby girl!

Sophia, Christmas 2015

I was prepared to have another boy, until I looked at the first scan. There was something in the way she held her head that made us both say: “Girl!”

Two weeks before Christmas 2015, Sophia Valeria was born. Irregular contractions, that started two days before she arrived, but this time I was more prepared. When they got very bad, instead of lying down and waiting for them to pass, I would get up and move around.

She was born at Princess Royal UH, Kent and I had four midwifes in the room with me! I remember Silviu made me do many walking lunges that evening and I bounced a lot on the Swiss ball. It was the only thing that helped manage the pain and speed up labour.

The first thing she did when they put her on my chest was to raise her head and look at me. I immediately felt calmer - strong girl!

No doubt - where there is love for one child, that love can multiply infinitely. Incomparable loves because they are different personalities, but equal.

Sophia looks at me like I am her superhero, but I want to be just like her.
