38/365 - You do you!

June 2015

On my second pregnancy the sickness kicked in much earlier than first time around, but three months in and I was still breastfeeding.

Struggling to hold food in and losing weight, I had a choice to make - “This kid here is old enough to feed himself, the other one needs more!”

I have heard of women breastfeeding for very long periods of time, but I thought it was ok to stop at that point. I did the transition gradually, in three weeks and it worked great for the both of us.

When I hear about women up and ready to go to smash the weights and pump the iron during the pregnancy and a few days after giving birth, I look at them as if they are a completely different species from me. An amazing species, but that is not the reality for everyone out there, it definitely wasn’t for me.

When I think about my second pregnancy, I just remember myself lying on the sofa, fighting to keep my eyes open to supervise Ian. Being in the kitchen was a torture, all foods smelled bad and tastes were altered.

My biggest accomplishments during that time were to just get through the day and maybe get some steps in.

Do whatever you think it’s right for you, regardless of what someone else can or cannot do. All in good time! Respect your body with the best food in the meantime, it is your temple after all!

You got this!
